Seattle Permits (SPS) assists with permit-related projects ranging from simple residential permits to commercial projects for homeowners, contractors, small businesses, and commercial companies, for projects including construction, remodels, and HVAC

We cover the greater Seattle area as well as most jurisdictions in the west side of the Puget Sound for Pierce County, Snohomish County and King County areas.

Seattle Permits (Seattle Permit Services) began in 2002, sparked by a simple but powerful pattern: subcontractors for the heating company John Douglas managed kept reaching out—not just for answers, but for someone who could help them bridge the gap between city requirements and boots-on-the-ground realities. 

Seeing their frustration firsthand, John stepped in. Within a short amount of time, John started Seattle Permit Services and seattlepermits.com. Seattle Permits is the licensed name. 

With decades of experience threading together building codes, construction know-how, and public contract navigation, John became more than a resource—he became a guide. His reputation grew organically as someone who could cut through bureaucratic red tape with empathy and precision.

Today, over 20 years later, Seattle Permits remains rooted in that same ethos. Whether helping a commercial team fast-track approvals or walking a homeowner through unfamiliar permit language, John brings a personal touch to every project. He’s not just facilitating paperwork—he’s helping people reach their goals with clarity, confidence, and a steady hand.
