Welcome to SPS for help with your Light Commercial and Residential Permits
As we continue to navigate the challenges of COVID 19, we are committed to staying proactive.
We will always offer to follow the recommended safety protocols. Just let us know if you have concerns and we will reasonably accommodate your concerns the best we can.
For much of the permits and the ways we get them, we are finding that most jurisdictions are preferring to stick with the new contactless electronic format that they may offer. This does create a change in the way we do business, and very often doesn't allow for us to walk into the permit office to discuss the project.
The New Normal?
One of the biggest challenges we have seen is that Seattle requires site plans for most projects whether small or large. Many times people can't afford for an architect or engineer. Or they can't draw or produce CAD drawings to scale with all the information required.
Other challenges for some is navigating the electronic portal and submittals of applications and files. These are the new normal. We personally don't think that many of these permit offices will want to go back to the open counter format. At least for as long as COVID and its variants continue to remain an active and concerning presence.
We are able to help with these issues at the basic level. We encourage that you reach out to an architect for bigger projects.
"A rolling stone gathers no moss"
Assisting with permit projects during COVID has been a challenge with companies still being limited in their ability to access sites and contact people involved with the projects (including several permit offices). However, things are much better though we still hear about the possibilities of some of the restrictions coming back. We will be ready in most situations.
Yes. Masks, gloves and hygiene are important to us. Masks aren't required (as of 12-28/2022), but we are ready to respect the customer and their sites on request.
For some projects, most sites we visit are not usually locations where several people gather, so we can keep meetings down to usually two or three people. Handshakes can be avoided and speaking distances can be maintained by each person simply extending their arm out to make sure we are each apart more than the tip of our hands. In most situations, the meetings are brief and only meeting to get specifics only available by physical review or taking measurements in part of our other services to help with site plans, verifying details and performing energy load calculations.
